Stories that feature LGBTQ+ families
These books illuminate the experiences of LGBTQ+ led families and their children. Some books focus on what it means to be a member of a Rainbow family, while others tell universal stories about diverse families with LGBTQ+ caregivers or extended family members.
Whenever possible, we try to feature joyful family experiences. Why? Because too many children’s books present identity as the central struggle or “problem.” Keep this in mind as you build your classroom library and choose books that cast LGBTQ+ families in a positive light.
